Choosing blinds
- Roller, zebra or Venetian?
- Rollers are the simplest and most compact. Zebra blinds let you shift between filtered light and privacy. Venetians tilt to direct light and add the warmth of wood.
- Inside or outside the recess
- Fitted inside the window recess, a blind looks neater. Fitted outside, it covers more of the frame and lets less light in at the edges.
- Motorised blinds
- Motors can be wired or rechargeable and run from a remote, a wall switch or a phone. Wired motors are best planned before painting.
- Kitchens and bathrooms
- Choose moisture-tolerant fabrics or faux-wood slats rather than real timber in humid rooms.
